Jaylin Alderman committed to the Miami Hurricanes on Sunday, after entering the transfer portal earlier this month, and I just wanted to take a look back on his extraordinary play he had back in the 2021 Louisville football season.

Let me set up the game:

Louisville was 1-1 heading into their Friday night matchup against UCF inside Cardinal Stadium, and after getting absolutely dismantled by Ole Miss and beating EKU the Cardinals needed a win badly.

It was high scoring in the first half as Louisville led 21-14, but UCF would fight back as the game would be tied at 35 late into the fourth quarter. However, on third down QB Malik Cunningham was hit as he threw it and the ball was intercepted in the red zone for UCF. As they were set up to run the ball and line up a very plausable field goal.

For whatever the reason was, UCF decided to throw the ball and it may have been the worst decision head coach Gus Malzahn has made in his entire coaching career.

Here is what happened on the next play with Louisville legend Paul Rodgers on the call:

Alderman intercepted the ball and took it 66 yards to the house, as Louisville ended up winning the game 42-35, as the Cardinals advanced to 2-1 with a much more positive outlook on the reason.

Alderman was just a true freshman when he made the play, and while it would be great to have him back in 2024, at least we'll always have this legendary play to remember him for.
