It takes time to rebuild a program. Make no mistake, the Louisville basketball program is in the midst of a rebuild. Kenny Payne was an unmitigated disaster and Pat Kelsey is here to pick up the pieces. In order to do that, he has to recruit at a high level to get the Cardinals back to the top of the ACC.

They already have a five-star recruit interested in them. They need more talent to follow suit. Another solid prospect announced that the Cardinals are in his final eight schools. That prospect is Tre Singleton, a forward from Jeffersonville, Indiana. He's a three-star recruit and is close to a four-star.

Singleton plays at Jeffersonville High School and has Louisville in his final eight schools. With Jeffersonville just being across the river from Louisville, the Cardinals are basically his home school. The other schools are from various parts of the country.

Tre Singleton has Louisville basketball program in his final eight

In addition to Louisville, Singleton has Butler, Purdue, Notre Dame, Xavier, Northwestern, Clemson, and Virginia. He has already taken an official visit to Northwestern and has one set up at Louisville for August 30th. The end of the month will be big for the future of the program.

Singleton stands at 6'8 and 215 pounds. He's fluid in his movements, so his size is an extreme advantage for him. He projects as a four at the next level and he can really rebound the ball well. Louisville is a team that needs help on the boards, so he would really help.

There is a lot of time between now and when Singleton will likely make his decision. If the Cardinals could add him into the fold, they would be very pleased. Adding a hometown kid would be good for the momentum of the 2025 recruiting class.
