The Louisville football team was one of the positive developments for the ACC in Week 1. They obliterated Austin Peay 62-0 and looked completely dominant. While Austin Peay is a terrible team, this was still a good game for these guys to start out with to build some confidence.

We've talked about how the offense has a lot of players that they are trying to replace. Having a new starting quarterback, running back, and number-one receiving option is not an easy thing to handle. It looks like the Cardinals have handled that pretty well early on.

In fact, the Louisville Cardinals handled it so well that they vaulted themselves into the polls for the first time this season. After being left out of the initial Top 25 Poll, the Cardinals now find themselves as the 22nd-ranked team in the country. So not only are they in, they are firmly in.

The Louisville football team leapfrogs another ACC team in the rankings

Not only did Louisville get into the top 25, but they actually jumped over NC State. NC State, who was picked ahead of the Cardinals in the preseason ACC poll, stayed at 24 after a dismal performance against Western Carolina. Louisville looks like the better team right now.

There are now five ranked ACC teams. Four of them are in the 22-25 spot though. Louisville, Georgia Tech, NC State, and Clemson sit in those spots. Only Miami is in the top-15 and they are ranked 12th. There is no ACC team ranked in the top ten now that Florida State has started 0-2.

For the Cardinals, things could not have started this season any better. ACC teams around them either lost or looked bad. Meanwhile, they put on an epic Week 1 performance. Week 2 will be slightly tougher, but it should still be a win for them.
