Louisville football team loses a potential starter to a season-ending injury
By Ryan Stano
The Louisville football team is just a couple of days into Fall camp. They are gearing up for the start of the 2024 season and they are hoping to repeat the success of a year ago. While the media doesn't think they can, those on the team believe they can be even better.
Jeff Brohm has high hopes for his offense this season. They were hoping for a better passing effort this year after posting just 236 yards per game a season ago. A big part of that was being able to protect the quarterback and make sure he has time to throw.
The Cardinals were hoping they were going to have a full season of Lance Robinson to help them do that. The offensive lineman had to sit out most of the 2023 season but was able to play the bowl game. He started for the Houston Cougars in 2022 and was expected to start this year.
Louisville football team loses offensive lineman Lance Robinson for the season
Robinson won't be able to help the Cardinals this season after he suffered a season-ending knee injury on the second day of practice. It's a brutal blow to a Cardinals team that was expected to compete for the ACC title yet again. This is also now the second season that he will miss.
What will the Cardinals do without Robinson? They'll have to do what they did last year. It's more of a problem now that they lost three starters. Robinson was a senior who was expected to not just bring strong play on the football field but also bring some leadership.
Brohm will now have to look at some younger guys who will have to step up now. It's a next-man-up mentality that the Cardinals will have to have all season long.
