Pat Kelsey Likely to Become Louisville Basketball's Next Head Coach
By Caleb Hall
The Louisville head coaching search has seemingly come to an end today, as multiple sources have reported that Pat Kelsey from Charleston will take the open Louisville head coaching position.
In the 2 weeks since Kenny Payne's firing from the University of Louisville athletic director Josh Heird has gone through candidates like Scott Drew, Dusty May, and Richard Pitino. All of which decided to stay at their respected schools, and while Josh Schertz from Indiana State was lining up for the job, it looks like will be going to Saint Louis to coach basketball.
Kelsey has been an assistant coach and head coach in his time in college basketball, and most recently has been at the University of Charleston for the past 3 seasons. In his past 2 seasons at Charleston he has gone 58-12, while winning his conference both time and making the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years as well.
Kelsey is looking to bring some much needed energy and passion to Louisville basketball and it is looking like he will do just that. More information is still to come.
