Pat Kelsey Showed Pure Class When Referencing Kenny Payne in Introductory Presser
By Caleb Hall
Pat Kelsey was formally announced as the head coach for the Louisville Cardinals yesterday, and his press confernece was about as perfect as it could get. The most mature and pure moment from yesterday however had to be when Kelsey paid respects to former head coach Kenny Payne.
Payne was fired three weeks ago at Louisville, and his tenure ended at a time when the fanbase was divided and no one was supporting him. It seemed like it would be a long time before Louisville could welcome Payne back into the city with 100% support, however, Kelsey had other plans for the former Cardinal alumni. Kelsey had this to say when talking about Louisville alumni and Kenny Payne:
""Obviously, it didn't work out the way we wanted it, but he is a major, major, major part of Card Nation. He is welcome back here like everybody else. He's a world class human being. I don't know him well, but I know a ton of people that know him. We're really proud of who he is, and that he's a Cardinal.""

Acknowledging Payne and the former alumni that feel they were treated wrong because of Payne's firing is a big deal, and shows just how good of a human being Kelsey is. Kelsey is bringing together all Louisville fans as he begins his time at Louisville, and his comments on Kenny Payne show just how high class of a person and coach Kelsey will be at Louisville.
