The Louisville Cardinals had one of their best seasons in recent memory last season in Jeff Brohm's first season coaching back in his hometown. Isaac Guerendo is now the first player to be drafted in the Brohm era, and it is for good reason.
Guerendo was the 2nd string for Louisville in the running back room at the start of the season behind Jawhar Jordan, but after Jordan's injury issues throughout the 2nd half of the season Guerendo got a substantial amount of carries.
Guerendo finished the 2023 season at Louisville with 810 rushing yards on just 132 attempts, while also scoring 11 touchdowns with 234 receiving yards on 22 catches. Guerendo had several upon several explosive plays in Louisville's offense last year, and even though he was 2nd string on the depth chart he showed how good a player he could be at the professional level. That was even more evident during the NFL Draft, where he showed his talents and blew certain scouts expectations away with a 4.33 40-yard dash.
Guerendo has landed himself in a great situation with Kyle Shanahan's San Francisco 49er offense, and will have the resources around him to succeed in the NFL. If Guerendo plays how he did in Louisville then he should have no problem running the ball with success in San Francisco
