To keep a bright future, the Louisville football team must correct this issue

The Louisville football team is hoping for another great season in 2024. If they want to keep having a bright future, they need to correct this big issue.

The Louisville football team had a season that no one expected from them in 2023. They played for an ACC Championship in Jeff Brohm's first season of leading the program. It was an immediate success that got everyone's attention. There was a time when they were in CFP contention too.

They have high expectations for themselves this season too. The Cardinals are a good team despite losing some good players on offense, including their starting quarterback. They still think they can compete for the ACC title again. This season looks solid for them.

Looking beyond this season is where things get a bit unclear. Brohm will have his system implemented and will have more of his own players on the team. The issue comes with how well, or in this case, poorly he's recruited so far for the 2025 recruiting class.

The Louisville football team must recruit better to keep the future bright

Right now, the Louisville Cardinals have the 64th-ranked recruiting class in the country. They have just 13 commits for the class so far. Only one of them is a four-star recruit while the others are three-star guys. That won't get it done if they want to compete in the ACC year after year.

Of course, no one expects the Cardinals to grab five-star recruits left and right. That's just not the kind of program they are. Historically, they've hovered right around the 30th-best recruiting class. They supplement that with great coaching to get themselves in the mix for conference titles.

Brohm needs to get his recruiting classes back to that level if he wants to sustain success with the Cardinals. The transfer portal is how the Cardinals boost their recruiting class ranks, so that will probably be the case again this year. Good players make it easier to win.

Another good year in 2024 would go a long way to increasing the interest level of top recruits in the program. The Louisville football team is ready to show that last year wasn't a fluke.
