The Louisville football team has looked about as impressive as a team can be in their first two games of the year. They have blown out both Austin Peay and Jacksonville State in each of their first two games. The Cardinals have looked great, albeit against not great competition.

Louisville is surging up the rankings and is now ranked 19th in the country. They are just one spot lower than Notre Dame after the Irish lost at home to Northern Illinois. That game on Louisville's schedule looks a lot less daunting than it did a week ago.

As they head into their first bye week, the Cardinals are going to look to improve on some things. Despite looking about as good as they could in the first two games, Jeff Brohm is looking to improve in a few specific areas this early in the season. That's what their focus will be.

What the Louisville football team will be working on during the bye week

One thing the Cardinals will be working on is pass protection. In the season opener against Austin Peay, they gave up two sacks. They improved against the Jaguars of Jacksonville State and they left that game not having allowed any, but the offensive line still needs a bit of improvement.

Starting faster on offense will also be a point of emphasis during the week. They have yet to score a touchdown on their opening drive. In Week 1, they scored a field goal. Against Jacksonville State in Week 2, Louisville had to punt. They'd like to be scoring touchdowns early.

Louisville is ready to start playing some tougher competition. We're going to find out about this team a lot more in a couple of weeks when they take on Georgia Tech. That will be their first real test of the year.
