Louisville basketball secured its fourth Transfer Portal commitment Tuesday evening after Iowa transfer Alvaro Folgueiras made it official and committed to the Cardinals. Louisville has been the favorite for Folgueiras for quite some time now, but after Blackwell committed to Duke, Louisville got it done and officially landed the 4-star transfer.
Way-too-early starting five projection for the Louisville Cardinals 2026-27 season
The Cardinals have had a dominant offseason so far, ranking No. 1 in the nation in team Transfer Portal rankings. However, Pat Kelsey and this staff aren’t done yet, as Louisville still has to rebuild its entire bench. So, with the Cardinals likely to add a few more pieces from the portal, we are going to make some bold predictions.
Here is a prediction for Pat Kelsey's next three moves after Louisville basketball lands Alvaro Folgueiras.
Devin Williams
Louisville basketball reportedly reached out, is now in contact with Devin Williams, and held a Zoom meeting with the former 4-star recruit. With Folgueiras likely to be Louisville’s starting power forward, the Cardinals will need to attack their frontcourt depth, and Williams emerges as a potential backup power forward.
He ranked as high as a 4-star recruit in the 2023 cycle, No. 74 overall and No. 16 among power forwards. He committed to UCLA, where he didn’t see much playing time, and later transferred to FAU. With the Owls, he averaged  7.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 2.6 blocks per game. His 2.6 blocks per game is tied with Flory Bidunga for the fifth most in Division I basketball, and his 85 blocks on the season rank No. 7.
The 6-foot-10, 205-pound forward emerges as a great option for Kelsey to bring off the bench, as he is ranked No. 242 overall in the Transfer Portal.
Gabe Dynes
Kelsey has some magic when a transfer comes to visit Louisville, and one center the Cardinals are reportedly hosting for a visit Thursday is Gabe Dynes. The Kentucky native started his college career at Youngstown State, where he emerged as an elite rim protector in his sophomore season.
Dynes logged a dominant 104 blocks in one season, ranking No. 2 in Division I basketball, and averaged 3.1 blocks per game, ranking No.3 in Division I basketball. He transferred to USC last offseason, averaging 2.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.0 blocks in just 11.9 minutes per game. With the Cardinals needing a backup center, and the 7-foot-5 Kentucky native coming to campus Thursday, we are making the bold prediction that he will commit to Louisville. He will also visit Kentucky, Xavier, North Carolina State, and Kansas.
Paul McNeil
With Louisville missing on John Blackwell, the Cardinals are likely going to still try to spend big. In one transfer, we can see Kelsey going after and making a strong push for North Carolina State transfer Paul McNeil. The Cardinals need an elite 3-point shooter, and he emerges as the best 3-point specialist available.
The 4-star shooting guard is coming off a dominant sophomore season, where he splashed 105 3’s while shooting 42.7 percent from beyond the arc. He averaged 3.1 3’s made and 13.8 points per game. McNeil is a dream target for the Cardinals after Blackwell’s commitment, and while this is a major shot in the dark, Kelsey clearly isn’t done yet, and this could be the next No. 1 target for Louisville.
