F J'Vonne Hadley - Transfer
J'Vonne Hadley was a key player last season for Pat Kelsey and the 2024-25 Louisville Cardinals. He transferred in from Colorado and immediately made an impact, as he was a glaring X-factor on both ends of the floor. Hadley averaged 12.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists while shooting 51.8 percent from the field and 38.1 percent from the 3-point line.
The Cardinals are bringing in 5-star recruit Mikel Brown Jr., 5-star prospect Adrian Wooley, and 4-star prospect Ryan Conwell. These three guards are all 6-foot-5 or smaller, making the Cardinals' starting lineup small. It seems highly unlikely that Hadley would start at the power forward position, as it was their glaring weakness against elite opponents. It also seems even more unlikely that he would want to come off the bench.
Louisville is beginning to reach out to forwards now that they have landed their shooters from the portal. If the Cardinals bring in a player like Tae Davis, the Cardinals fans would have to assume Hadley enters the portal.
Even if Louisville doesn't land a massive forward in the portal, Hadley is just 6-foot-6 and would be well undersized in the power forward position. Hadley entered the portal last offseason as a shooting guard and showed that it is tricky to jump from a shooting guard to a power forward in this league. The Cardinals need to find a legit stretch four in the portal, and if they land a power forward, it makes the most sense that Hadley would transfer.
