Louisville football has a relatively minor injury report as the Cardinals prepare for James Madison, but fans are keeping an eye on a few key players. The Cardinals' returning tight end, Nate Kurisky, and offensive tackle, Trevonte Sylvester, missed Louisville's 2025 season opener, and Brohm gave an update on both this afternoon.
However, the player every fan is holding their breath on is Rodney Johnson Jr. The transfer cornerback suffered an ankle injury in the Cardinals' home opener and never returned, as Louisville was dominating at that point in the game.
Jeff Brohm finally gave a crucial update on Johnson, and the update has Louisville fans finally exhaling and taking that deep breath.

Jeff Brohm gives crucial injury update on Rodney Johnson Jr.
Brohm revealed to the public on Monday afternoon that Johnson should be available and that he thinks he will be ready to go by Friday.
"I think Rodney will be back, for sure," Brohm stated on Monday at his press conference. "Nate had an injury in fall camp. I'm not for sure if he'll be ready to go, which we would like to get him back. Then Trevonte probably will not be back for this game as well,"
While it is crushing to hear that Louisville won't have their starting tackle in Sylvester, it is massive to hear that Johnson is good to go and will be playing Friday. Johnson is a crucial piece to this Cardinals secondary, and this is the exact boost this defense needs heading into Week 2.
The Cardinals' Week 2 matchup is against a sneaky opponent, a team that has gained a lot of momentum in recent years. Louisville has its eyes on an ACC Championship, and after Florida State and Miami's top 10 victories this weekend, the Cardinals desperately need everyone healthy throughout the season.
Johnson transferred to Louisville after earning 43 total tackles, 6.0 tackles for a loss, five pass deflections, one forced fumble, and one interception for Southern University last year.
