Louisville basketball is taking on the Michigan State Spartans Saturday afternoon in the round of 32, and with Louisville down just five at halftime, a lot is riding on Ryan Conwell and his health. The Cardinals are already without 5-star freshman Mikel Brown Jr., and if Conwell is anything less than 100 percent, this comeback will be that much harder.

Conwell appeared to have discomfort in his left foot around the seven-minute mark in the first half when he went to set the screen. He clearly didn’t roll his ankle, but he was visibly limping immediately after the play. Now, with Louisville trying to move on to the Sweet Sixteen, it appears Conwell will try to play through whatever is bothering him.

“I’m good, I’m blessed, I’m going to give it everything I got, no matter how I feel,” Conwell stated at halftime before the second half started.

Conwell is a huge piece of this Cardinals team, leading Louisville with 18.7 points per game while shooting 40.6 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from beyond the arc. With the Cardinals trying to move on to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2015, the Xavier transfer will be worth monitoring this second half.

With Brown already out, Conwell is the engine of this offense, averaging 20.6 points and is shooting 41 percent from the field and making almost three 3-pointers per game in these last six games without the Cardinals' 5-star freshman.

In the first round, Conwell scored 18 points, added six assists and four rebounds, and is leading all scorers with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting from the field, including 2-of-4 from downtown. Louisville fans will keep a close eye on that left foot as they hope their star player is okay and he can lead the Cardinals to the Sweet Sixteen.
