Earlier this summer, Louisville basketball fans saw multiple Cardinals selected in the 2026 NBA Draft, as Mikel Brown Jr. was selected No. 6 overall by the Brooklyn Nets and Ryan Conwell was selected No. 37 overall by the Miami Heat. While Brown was the No. 6 overall pick, Conwell is the Cardinal who is quickly making noise this summer with his new team.
The former Cardinal has played in three games this summer for the Heat’s Summer League squad, and in these three games, he has proven why he is such an elite scorer. Earlier this week, Conwell returned to the floor, and while his 21-point performance in his first game was impressive, the Cardinal took it to the next level with an even better game.
Ryan Conwell continues to turn heads this summer with the Miami Heat
Conwell dropped a new summer high, as the second-round pick scored 26 points for the Miami Heat in his third game this summer. The Miami Heat went up against the Golden State Warriors, and Conwell was once again the leading scorer for the Heat and the game's leading scorer.

Conwell showed his ability to make difficult shots as the lefty sharpshooter was knocking down shots off the pass from beyond the arc, in transition, off dribble when he was attacking the rim, and more. The former Cardinal is proving he was the dream pick for the Heat and will be a great addition off the bench.
In the Heat's win over the Warriors, Conwell knocked down four more 3-pointers on 44 percent shooting from beyond the arc, and went 8-of-14 from the field and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. The former Cardinal is averaging 21 points per game while averaging 5.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists as well.
The Heat made a massive addition this offseason, adding Giannis Antetokounmpo. The Heat traded multiple bench pieces and key assets like Tyler Herro. With Erik Spoelstra losing valuable depth, Conwell is proving he can be a trustworthy bench player and a key asset on offense.
Conwell averaged 18.8 points per game for Louisville and is an elite 3-point shooter, which he is proving this summer. The former Cardinal made 99 3’s or more in his final three seasons in college basketball, including his final season with Louisville, where he led the Cardinals in made 3’s with 112.
The former Cardinal is having a strong showing this summer and making a real case to be a reliable piece for Spoelstra. Now, of course, the Summer League and the NBA are completely different, but Conwell’s ability to score and knock down difficult shots on a nightly basis continues to turn heads, which is why a lot of Heat fans are raising eyebrows and are impressed and excited about the former Cardinal in July.
