On New Year’s Day, Louisville football fans learned that their star running back, Isaac Brown, had left the program and entered the Transfer Portal. Brown was one of the best running backs in the nation his true freshman season and was trending to be one of the best again last year if he hadn’t missed five games. The Cards are crushed to see the preseason All-American leave, but they would be lying if they said it wasn’t expected after weeks of speculation about his future with the team.

During his Louisville tenure, he dominated, topping 100 rushing yards in 12 games and averaging 7.7 yards per carry. He earned All-ACC Rookie of the Year honors and made the All-American Freshman team after logging 165 carries for 1,173 rushing yards. He was the star of this team the past two seasons, and now Louisville fans have to see him play for another program.

When thinking about where he might transfer to, it appears to be almost a lock already. Texas is a school where the Louisville running back might land, a dream fit for both parties. 247Sports recently logged a Crystal Ball prediction, and by no surprise, they have Brown as a lock to Texas.

SEC giant predicted to land elite Louisville transfer Isaac Brown

Brown would be a perfect fit for Texas for multiple reasons. For those who are following the portal, the Longhorns have lost three running backs to the portal already, including the 2025 leading rusher, Quintrevion Wisner. Many were wondering why all of the Longhorns' running backs were bolting to the portal, but it appears that was made clear early after the portal opened, as they are dominant favorites to land Brown.

Brown is the No. 1 running back in the portal and the No. 16 overall player in the Transfer Portal. The Louisville transfer can get a massive pay raise, and Texas is the school that can meet those needs. Also, with a star like himself, he will be one of the top running backs in the 2027 NFL Draft, and Texas has a rich history of sending players to the NFL.

Brown has been a superstar since he arrived at Louisville and he would be the Longhorns starting running backs and would play with star quarterback Archie Manning. With the Longhorns missing the playoffs, they are looking to go all-in for Mannings final season and adding a player like Brown would give their already lethal offense a huge boost.

So, with 247Sports logging a 100 percent Crystal Ball prediction for Brown to go to Texas, it might sting for Louisville fans, but it certainly does not come as a surprise. It is the perfect spot for Brown.
