Former Louisville football star quarterback Tyler Shough continues to be one of the top stories in the NFL as of late. The former Cardinal has been a star for the New Orleans Saints since he took over the starting job for Kellen Moore.

Shough led the Saints to another victory this past weekend, as New Orleans defeated the Tennessee Titans 34-26. Not only has Shough now led the Saints to five wins since taking over, but he has led them to four straight wins and is making a strong case for Rookie of the Year.

The Saints were at the bottom of the NFL when Spencer Rattler was starting at QB, going 1-7 and losing three straight games. Shough took over in the second half against the Buccaneers in their blowout loss, and ever since, the team has been his. Shough has an impressive 5-3 record, including his four-game winning streak when he starts this season.

With this impressive run, the former Cardinal Rookie of the Year odds continue to soar and make a strong push for this coveted award. Shough now has +105 odds to win this award, just behind Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, who has -105. This award is a two-man race, as no other player is remotely close to these two.

Shough has taken the nation by storm, as the whole country is calling the Saints quarterback a franchise QB, a special player, and more. Since he has taken over the starting job for the Saints, he has completed 69 percent of his passes while throwing 1,997 yards, nine touchdowns, and also rushing for two touchdowns and 152 yards.

In this four-game winning streak, he has thrown over 300 yards twice, both of which have come in the past two games. Yesterday against the Titans, he threw for 333 yards while completing 81.5 percent of his 27 passes, and threw two touchdowns.

Shough would be the first Saints ROY since Alvin Kamara and Marshon Lattimore earned it in 2017. The last Louisville Cardinal to win the award was Teddy Bridgewater in 2014. Louisville and Saints fans will learn whether Shough wins the award in February, ahead of Super Bowl LX.
