Louisville football’s program has been trending in the right direction the last few years, ever since Jeff Brohm took over as head coach in 2022. The Cardinals' current head coach took the job at his alma mater in December 2022 and coached his first season in 2023, leading Louisville to a 10-win season and its first trip to the ACC Tournament.
Way-too-early Louisville football 2026 game-by-game predictions
The Cardinals have gone 9-4 in the two seasons since the 2023 season, but after a dominant offseason, this program is earning top-15 respect from the national media and is being labeled a major darkhorse team to make its first College Football Playoff appearance in 2026. Brohm made it clear he wants to build tradition at Louisville and make this program one of the best in the ACC and in College Football. After Indiana won it all, he believes Curt Cignetti and the Hoosiers just showed Louisville how teams like Indiana and Louisville can win the National Title.
Brohm has built quite the resume since he took over the Cardinals job, and while he usually flies under the radar, he is beginning to get a lot of respect, and Vince Marrow just gave him a huge compliment after the Cardinals head coach was ranked as a top-10 coach.
Jeff Brohm gets huge praise after cracking top-10 coach rankings
Recently, college football analyst George Wrighster III ranked his top 10 college football coaches, and Brohm was ranked No.9. Louisville’s head coach came in ranked No. 9 over big-time coaches like LSU’s Lane Kiffin, Texas’ Steve Sarkisian, USC’s Lincoln Riley, Tennessee’s Josh Heupel, and many more.
And when Wighster posted his top 10, Marrow responded and gave the Cardinals' head coach a big-time praise.
My guy @JeffBrohm should always be on every top 10 list! Really good ball coach. https://t.co/fwsNgt2kEq

Brohm led Purdue to the program's first Big Ten West Title in 2022 and has established himself as a giant killer, with an impressive 4-2 record against top-5 teams since 2018. One of those four wins, of course, came last season when the Cardinals beat Miami on the road when the Hurricanes were ranked No. 2 in the nation.
After that win, Brohm began to hear his name in the coaching carousel search as Penn State, Florida, LSU, and Michigan were all trying to get Brohm to leave Louisville and coach at a powerhouse program, but Brohm made it clear he thinks this Cardinals program is trending in the direction to compete not just for the ACC Title but the National Title.
