Louisville football red-hot recruiting sure continues, but this time it comes from the 2027 recruiting class rather than the Transfer Portal. The Cardinals fans just learned this afternoon that elite 4-star 2027 recruit and Louisville native Allen Evans will stay home and play for the Louisville Cardinals. The elite cornerback announced his commitment on NBC’s live broadcast of the Navy All-American Bowl.

The Cardinals just earned one of their highest commitments in program history, as the 4-star recruit ranks sixth-highest in Louisville football history. Evans ranks as high as 0.9544 according to 247Sports, making him the highest commitment for Louisville since James Quick in 2013.

As for his rankings among the 2027 recruiting class, the elite cornerback is a consensus 4-star and ranks as high as No. 39 overall, the No. 6-ranked cornerback, and the second-best Kentucky native.

Since Vince Marrow arrived at Louisville, this program has taken off with recruiting. The Cardinals have one of the best Transfer Portal classes this offseason, ranking as high as No. 2 in the nation, and now they've just landed their biggest recruit since 2013. The Cardinals' football program is soaring right now, and Evans looks to be a huge part of the future.

The 4-star cornerback committed to Louisville after earning 18 offers. The Louisville native earned offers from powerhouse programs and cut his list to five schools before announcing his commitment this afternoon. The Cardinals beat out Alabama, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Penn State, while schools like Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Michigan extended offers but didn’t make his final five.

The newest 2027 commitment logged 658 snaps in his junior season and was targeted just 57 times. In those 57 targets, Evans gave up just 93 receiving yards across 15 games, while not allowing a single touchdown. The 4-star cornerback logged 28 tackles and two interceptions.

Louisville’s 2027 recruiting class now ranks as one of the best in the nation with the boost from Evans, as the Cardinals have earned three commitments in this class. The other two commitments include 4-star quarterback Jack Sorgi and 4-star wide receiver Chuck Alexander.
