Louisville football's 2025 season-opening kickoff is getting closer by the day. The first stop is the football program's annual spring game. Fans will pour into L&N Stadium to get an early look at the new-look Cardinals. It will be interesting to see who the coaches go with at certain positions, first look at new transfers, and players returning from the 2024 season.
All eyes will be on the senior transfer quarterback, Miller Moss. After an amazing 2024 campaign from future NFL quarterback, Tyler Shough, fans will expect nothing less than a high-powered offense behind Moss. Two of the players that will be called on to help Moss in the offense, are Isaac Brown and Caullin Lacy. Brown had a standout freshman season at the running back position. He set the school's freshman rushing record with 1173 rushing yards. This stellar season earned Brown second-team All-ACC accolades. Wide Receiver Caullin Lacy only played in five games in the 2024 season before suffering a season-ending injury. Lacy had over 1,300 receiving yards in 2023. The Cardinal faithful and coaching staff have high hopes for him in the 2025 season.
Louisville football's secondary has been the biggest weakness on the defense for a few seasons now. With the top five corners departing from the team, fans will be locked onto that back end of the Cardinal's defense. The three new transfer cornerbacks, Justin Agu, Rodney Johnson Jr., and Jabari Mack will be showing what they can offer at the next level. There will be a key safety battle going on between transfers Jojo Evans and Corey Gordon Jr. Evans is listed as the starter on the early depth chart, but Gordon Jr. has been getting better with each season and this might be the year he gets the full-time starting role.
