10 key players who will play for Louisville football in the 2026 season

Jeff Brohm and Vince Marrow had an incredibly successful transfer portal window, both by retaining last year’s stars and bringing in new, highly sought-after players to fill the voids.

Louisville officially has its starting quarterback for the 2026 season. Some speculation late in the season suggested that Jeff Brohm had his starting quarterback for next season on the current roster, specifically Deuce Adams. After Adams disappointing showing at SMU late in the season, replacing an injured Miller Moss, it was very clear that Louisville could not rely on Adams to take the reins of the offense in 2026.

Jeff Brohm knew the running game and retaining their elite backfield was priority number 1 in the transfer portal window. This surely prevented Louisville from competing with the highest-priced portal quarterbacks this time around. Louisville instead looked to Ohio State backup and former 4-star recruit Lincoln Kienholz to lead the Louisville offense. Kienholz did not log many snaps as the backup last season (139 passing yards and one passing touchdown).

However, he has the potential and plays the style Jeff Brohm is looking for in his offense. Time will tell if Brohm can get back to his “quarterback whispering” ways with this year's portal selection.
