#5- Peyton Siva (2009-2013)

Career Stats: 8.4 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 4.7 apg, 1.7 spg

Peyton Siva is probably the most likable player that makes this list. Siva came to Louisville with high expectations, and lived up to them for the extent of his career.

A McDonald’s All American out of high school, Siva was the foundation for a solid four year run. In every season that Siva played at Louisville, he improved his game, and the team improved along with him.

Fans were excited by his incredible leaping ability, and his speed on both sides of the ball. That kind of athleticism and raw talent in a player his size is nearly unheard of. His attitude and work ethic, however, are what makes him a Louisville legend and sets him apart from many other former players.

More from Louisville Basketball

Often times, great teams are weighed down by egos and attitudes. We spoke earlier this week about how close to greatness the 2009 Louisville team was, but that they ultimately couldn’t get it done when it mattered the most. Siva’s infectious energy and natural leadership abilities were often the glue that held teams together in his career. There is something to be said about his poise and focus throughout his time as a Cardinal.

Siva will long be remembered for his peskiness on defense, forcing two steals a game for his career. He and Russ Smith became one of the best backcourt duos in college basketball history with their ability to jump passing lanes, or get their hands in the cookie jar.

Siva’s legacy will be legendary, not only because he was an incredible player who won a national title, but because he made every person around the program extremely proud to be associated with him.
