There is a collective groan that comes from any Louisville fan that hears the name Georgia Tech. This has been labeled a “trap game” since 2014. I’m kidding, but only kind of. The Yellow Jackets do their thing, and they do it well. Solid, hard-nosed defense, and ball-control, triple option offense.

Unless the Louisville defense makes some serious improvements this season, the Cards are going to spend a lot of time on the field. Georgia Tech rarely passes, and why should they? They will run you to death and pick up 3-5 yards every time all the way down the field.

Coming off of the big Florida State match-up, Georgia Tech is a tough turn around. But, it’s Friday night in Cardinal Stadium, and I think Brian VanGorder has the defense ready to roll.

It’s really hard to tell if Georgia Tech will turn the corner this year. They hung with Clemson and Miami and beat Virginia Tech last year, but dropped clunkers to Virginia and Duke.

I think that this is a season-defining type of game for the Cards. There has been a lot of talk about how the margin between 9-3 or 10-2 and 7-5 or 6-6 is razor thin. If Louisville can make the plays and have the discipline needed to win one, it bodes well for the second half of the season.

I’ll take the Cards in a Friday night thriller.
