Well… A win is a win, right?  There’s no other way to put it, something just doesn’t seem right with Louisville Football so far this season.

View from the Ville’ns is back after a 1 week hiatus after last week’s game. Saturday night felt a lot more like the actual home opener for Louisville football after that weird, delay-filled monsoon of a game that was last week’s match-up against the Indiana State Sycamores.

Before the nighttime showdown against the Hilltoppers, the Louisville Basketball team hosted an open scrimmage at 1:00 in the Little Yum practice facility again.

Of course, we made sure the Ville’ns showed out to this event once again.

Fans got a chance to see our team play with a few big time recruits: 2019 4-star combo guard Jahmius Ramsey, 2019 4-star wing Samuell Williamson, and 2021 5-star combo guard Devin Askew.

Jahmius Ramsey, Samuell Williamson, and Jordan Nwora were the first on the court to start warming up.

It was clear that Samuell and Jahmius had some on-court chemistry, the two were balling out there.

Then, Jahmius had the play of the day.

Some quick personal observations:

  • Jordan Nwora is probably gonna be the team’s leading scorer
  • Christen Cunningham is going to be a really good leader and floor general for us
  • VJ King is gonna have his breakout year
  • Darius has improved his ball-handling
  • Steven Enoch is gonna be a great anchor in the paint
  • Jahmius Ramsey is gonna be really good
  • Samuell Williamson has a super smooth jump shot, if he went through our strength and conditioning program, he could be an absolute stud.
  • Devin Askew was the youngest guy on the court by far and held his own, kid is gonna be good

Oh yeah, so about that football game…

First off, our football stadium is just absolutely incredible now. We’re going to be able to recruit so well with these top notch facilities.

But once again, something just didn’t seem quite right with the Cards. The talent is there, but something just doesn’t seem to be clicking. Going into the season, we had one of the deepest and most talented receiving corps that we’ve ever had, plenty of talent at QB, a good group of running backs, and a really good O-Line. But the offense has just been… flat.

More from Louisville basketball recruiting

The defense played a solid game. Giving up 17 is not bad by any means, and considering injuries, I think they did well enough. But, we gotta be able to get off the field quicker on defense. WKU was able to have long, sustained drives far too many times.

When it comes to the quarterback controversy, Puma still at least deserves one more shot. He has all the tools and talent to become an incredible quarterback, and it would be unfair to downplay how solid he looked against arguably the best Alabama team that Saban’s had. Teddy and Lamar both looked shaky in some games early in their career, and we can’t just throw Puma aside so quickly.

Now when it comes to Malik, he’s done a great job the past two weeks coming in and providing a spark for the offense, and he definitely deserves a shot as well. Which is why I think you gotta play both next week at Virginia.

I wish I had a crystal ball that could tell you exactly what the problem is and how we can fix them, but I don’t. We have a manageable first road game at Virginia next week and Florida State at home in 2 weeks. Those are both very winnable games. We can be sitting at 4-1 going into a big game against Georgia Tech.

The worst thing we could do right now is to bail on this team and check out on this season while the season is so young. So again, let’s support these guys and show them what Louisville fans are all about.
