Dwayne Sutton is our X-Factor

Over the years, Sutton has made Louisville fans far and wide fall in love with his competitiveness, unselfishness, willingness and ability to do all the little things that help the team succeed.

So far, this year has been his coming out party. He still does all the little things right, but he’s asserting himself. Yes Ryan McMahon went off against MSU – but without Dwayne coming up with key rebounds, drawing fouls, and playing stout defense.. that game definitely could have ended up differently.

More from Louisville Basketball

Dwayne Sutton is the heart of this team. He makes these guys go. He gives maximum effort 100% of the time, and the guys are following his lead. I watched him run down the floor against Seton Hall as the only guy back on defense; he stopped the guy at the rim and then ran out with a hand up to contest the corner 3pt shot. All heart.

This man Dwayne is BALLING too. He’s the perfect guy for Mack’s system – the Swiss army knife of a player – he can do it all. Sutton is shooting 43% from downtown, 78% from the FT line, and averaging 8 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist per game.

But we know from watching him that the stat sheet never tells the whole story. The man brought us back all by himself and gave us a 2 point lead at halftime vs. the Pirates. When the team absolutely needs a rebound, a big defensive play, whatever it may be – Dwayne Sutton is that guy.

Way to go, hometown kid.
