Four burning questions for Louisville football entering the early signing period
What are Louisville’s biggest needs going forward?
After the early signing period, it appears that the Cards are going to hone in on three or four areas.
Tight End- The Cards only have one true scholarship tight end on the roster in rising senior Jordan Davis. However, Davis appears to be leaving the program along with Micky Crum (seniority) and Kemari Averrett (dismissal). This leaves zero true scholarship tight ends for 2019.
The Cards may turn to rising redshirt freshman Adonis Boone, who is a offensive line/ tight end hybrid, and Tobias Little, who is an H-back who really impressed the coaches going into the fall before some injuries.
Look for Louisville to use at least two scholarships on incoming tight ends. Perhaps they will go the graduate transfer route, but the Cards will need to sign at least one true freshman who can play right away. Pretty easy task, right?
Defensive Line- As we mentioned last week, the Cards have some bodies on the defensive line, but it appears that the coaching staff is not all too thrilled about who they are working again. We highlighted the importance of Jon Greenard staying to solidify the line, but the Cards are in real need of an edge rusher.
Quarterback- Don’t be surprised, even with Conley signing, if the Cards try to bring in two more quarterbacks. Louisville already lost their quarterback of the future in Jordan Travis. It looks like walk-on Sean McCormack is looking elsewhere, and it wouldn’t shock anyone if Puma Pass looked to get a fresh start at a different school.
That would leave only two scholarship quarterbacks in Cunningham and Conley. The Cards are likely to try to land one more freshman, and then hit the transfer or graduate transfer market to really solidify the quarterback depth.
