(11) Belmont vs. (6) Maryland

Maryland doesn’t stand out as a team that could make much noise in the tournament. They withered down the stretch, losing 7 out of their last 13. Though future lottery pick Bruno Fernando poses a challenge down low for the Terps, teams are figuring out the recipe to beat Maryland.

Belmont would have the advantage of an extra game up their sleeves coming in after having to face Temple in the First Four. This Belmont team has flown under the radar all season, but don’t overlook them now. They beat Lipscomb twice, beat UCLA, Murray State, and hung tough with Purdue.

Belmont ranks 2nd in the nation is points per game, and 4th in field goal percentage. Many see Maryland is a sleeper team, but they are going to have to be on their game if they want to make it to the weekend.
