Anytime you go through spring practice with one scholarship tight end and one or two walk-on’s that is typically a sign of a weak position group.
Heading into the 2019-20 season Scott Satterfield’s most important position in his offensive scheme, outside of quarterback and running back is the tight end position, will return a group that had two catches for 23 yards in 2018-19. Those statistics come from senior Jordan Davis, who primarily played in a backup/blocking role for Bobby Petrino last season.
The Cards will get some experience in graduate transfer Ean Pfeifer who comes over from Vanderbilt, but keep in mind he played offensive line during his three and a half years in Nashville. They’ll also bring in versatile athlete Dez Melton from Glendale, AZ, a three star in the class of 2019, who could bring some speed and playmaking ability.
Look for CSS and company to try and grab at least one more graduate transfer or eligible transfer this summer.
