Louisville football lands their third commitment in three days
By Jacob Lane
Louisville football keeps the recruiting momentum going with their third commitment in three days and 8th in 16 days.
At this point, Louisville football is without question the hottest program in the country when it comes to recruiting.
This week alone the Cards secured commitments from local defensive lineman/offensive lineman Austin Collins, and offensive lineman Kobe Baynes, who chose the Cards over several other big-time power five schools.
Today, Louisville picked up another commitment, once again in trenches but just on the opposite side of the ball, in three-star defensive tackle Henry Bryant.
Rated as the 57th best defensive tackle in the country and 87th best player in the state of Florida, Bryant chose the Cards over fellow ACC foes North Carolina State, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, as well as West Virginia, and arch-rival Kentucky.
Bryant is Louisville’s 9th total commitment in the class of 2020 and joins Dezmond Tell and Jared Dawson as defensive line commitments. The commitment from Bryant comes on the heels of an official visit to Louisville just a few weeks ago.

Compared to some of the defensive tackles that Louisville has had on the roster in previous years, Bryant is a tad undersized at just 5’11” 275 pounds, but what he lacks in height he makes up for in power and athleticism.

You don’t come to hold offers from some of the Nation’s top schools at that size without having some serious skill, and that’s exactly what Bryant has. At nearly 300 pounds, Bryant runs a 4.85 forty yard dash, squats 500 pounds, and plays running back as well as on the defensive line for Atlantic High School in Delray Beach, Florida.
The kid is a special talent who has just started to see his recruitment blow up over the last several months. He is a violent lineman, who uses his hands well to be able to push back lineman and then use his speed and strength to bring down ball carriers. Watching his highlights it’s obvious to tell why the staff prioritized him.
As we’re beginning to see, Satterfield and co-defensive coordinator Bryan Brown, like to use smaller, faster, and more physical players at the NT or DT position in their 3-4 defensive scheme, allowing them to use the quickness advantage to one, penetrate up the middle around slower offensive lineman, and two to fill space for the linebackers to make plays using their speed.
Bryan Brown talking about his defense was quoted by the Courier-Journal as saying, “We play a couple of defenses and a couple of wrinkles here and there. But the guys just love to fly around and have fun, and one thing we’re going to do is chase that football.” Bringing in an undersized lineman will allow them to do that, and Bryant should flourish in the role that will be played by GG Robinson this season.
