I’m not sure there’s been a preseason in recent memory for Louisville football with so many questions and concerns still lingering into the first game.

Because the majority of time is spent arguing the major topics like the QBs or Offensive line, Chandler Jones is here to convince you why the cornerbacks deserves to be in the discussion for one of the most exciting position groups this season.

Considered a four-star prospect by Rivals and one of the best defensive backs in Florida at the time of his commitment,  Jones is now a sophomore primed to have a major year in a new defense after gaining valuable experience playing in 11 games last season as a true freshman for the Cards.

And Louisville defensive coordinator and cornerbacks coach Bryan Brown will make sure of it.

An article a few months back comparing the former and current staffs highlighted some things that should make Cards fans excited when it comes to the new defense under coach Brown:

– Since 2015, App States Defense has the second most Interceptions in FBS with a combined 70.

– Since 2015, App State has finished in the top 15 in Interceptions

– Last season, App State finished SIXTH NATIONALLY IN TOTAL DEFENSE: landing top three for passing defense and top six for scoring defense.

Brown’s defenses are focused on play aggressive, fast with high-octane precision when attacking opposing offenses and he prides himself on his defenses ability to be able to force turnovers, primilary interceptions.

The notes above all point to one thing for Chandler Jones and the rest of the defensive backs:

Coach Brown’s defense will give them opportunities to make plays.

And I believe Jones will take full advantage this season.
