The cornerbacks might be a lesser discussed group this preseason, but that definitely isn’t the case for the guys lining up across from them. Albeit a down year statistically last season, Louisville’s wide receivers are still considered one of – if not the most solidified position on this year’s team.

Senior Seth Dawkins, along with the rest of the receiving corps, is seeking redemption in his final season.

Dawkins might not seem as electric to the average fan as someone like Dez Fitzpatrick, but Louisville will need to rely on the senior’s leadership, experience, and consistency on the field to make Satterfield’s inaugural season a success.

But a wide receiver is only as reliable as the man that’s throwing him the ball, assuming he has the time to throw.

With an improved offensive line and a new, run-first offensive system, Dawkins has the potential to finish his Cardinal career on a high note. Satterfield has repeatedly said that although running is the focal point of his offense, he will find creative ways to get the ball in the play maker’s hands. An improved line and more run game also means taking pressure off of Jawon Pass, giving the QB a chance to make better decisions with his passing – something that should pay off for Dawkins.

At 6’3”, 215-pounds – Dawkins will also benefit from his new Wide Receivers coach, Gunter Brewer. Having just come from a short, yet successful, stint in the NFL with the Eagles, Brewer has already made an impact in Dawkins’ final year.

Dawkins spoke highly of Brewer at Louisville’s media day, saying

"‘He’s smart – he’s probably one of the smartest football minds that I’ve been around. We lucky and blessed to have him. I’ve learned a lot in the last eight months from him’"

All signs point to Louisville’s wide receiver’s having a big year, with Dawkins leading the way.
