Louisville basketball fans won’t be able to see the real season be completed, but they can catch a simulation that has the Cards in the Final Four.

You won’t be able to see Louisville basketball make it to Atlanta for the 2020 Final Four, but there’s a simulation that has you covered.

We saw outlets across the country like ESPN BPI, NBC Sports, and our own Fansided put out simulated tournament runs, and how teams would have done with their respective draws. None of those projections thought the Cards had what it took to advance past the Sweet 16, and ESPN and FanSided had Louisville going down in the first weekend.

However, there are some Twitter heroes that need to be recognized. A group called 2020 NCAA TOURNAMENT SIMULATION (@NCAAsim2020 on Twitter) has put out a bracket based on Joe Lunardi’s final bracket prior to the nationwide shutdowns.

In Lunardi’s final Bracketology, he had the Cards as a four seed in the South region with Baylor as the one-seed, Creighton in the two-seed slot, and Michigan State as the three-seed.

The creators behind the simulated tournament put a lot of time and thought into the games before giving us the finished product on Twitter, and they use some of our favorite tried and true analytics. Here’s what they had to say about the process:

"We look at a bunch of different advanced statistics. We also look at websites such as KenPom and Synergy Sports as well."

This tournament has yielded fantastic results for the Cards. They snuck past an upset-minded Vermont in the first round and were lucky in rounds two and three to draw higher-seeded teams. Stephen F. Austin, who upset Ohio State in overtime in round one, was not as lucky in the second round as the Cards took care of business to advance to the Sweet 16.

In the round of 16, Louisville drew Rutgers, who sprung the upset against Baylor, and the Cards put their former Big East Conference foe away easily.

Lastly, the Cards mounted an impressive comeback against Michigan State to win 69-64 and advance to Atlanta for the Final Four.

Now, Louisville faces one-seed Gonzaga with a spot on the line in the national title game on Monday, April 6th.

If Louisville wins, they will advance to play the winner of the second semifinal between Kansas and Villanova.

It’s not the real thing, but it’s fun for Cards fans to follow along with.

If you want to check out the final four and national title games, you can follow as the account live tweets the Kansas-Villanova game Friday at 6 PM and the Louisville-Gonzaga game Saturday at 6 PM.

If the Cards advance, the championship game will be simulated on Monday the fourth, with the time TBD.
