Louisville football: Realistic expectations in year two of Scott Satterfield era
By Dalton Pence
The Verdict
Repeating an eight-win season will be challenging, but not impossible. The Cardinals will travel to both Clemson and Notre Dame, while hosting Kentucky as well. Florida State and Virginia Tech will be tough matchups that are up in the air; Louisville will have to take care of business against Virginia, Syracuse, and NC State to replicate last year’s success. Another eight-win season does not mean that the progress has slowed. It is tough to see the team winning double-digit games given the schedule, but bowl eligibility should be obtained regardless.

The offense will more than likely be more deadly than it was last year, while the defense will show signs of improvement, but one thing is for certain: the future is bright and the sun is close to shining again on Louisville football.
In regards to the 2020-21 campaign, six to eight wins is most likely, with nine is not necessarily out of the picture.
The offense will take a step forward as a whole to become one of the ACC’s most prominent units and although the defense won’t be one of the top in the nation, there is good reason to believe the Cardinals will be better suited to stop the run and limit giving us as many points as they have the past two seasons.
A display of regression would be the result of the defense showing little to no improvement, with the offense struggling to put the ball in the end zone. The expectations should be bowl eligibility and a repeat of eight wins would not be surprising. Unit growth, depth quality, and health are the three main areas of assessment.
