2019 stats: 22 tackles, 14 solo, 4 tackles for loss, 2 sacks

The Louisville football team was able to get in seven practices before the coronavirus pandemic shut it down. Coach Brown said that Jared Goldwire was the man on defense that made the biggest improvements.

"“I say this until I’m blue in the face, Jared Goldwire was a different human being these seven practices this spring. I joked with him after a couple of practices, ‘When is the old Jared going to show up’ because this guy was literally different. He was a different animal.”"

He went on to say that he believes his biggest strides came in the film room. This is Goldwire’s senior season, and he wants to go out on top.

Goldwire will be in the nose tackle position for the Cards after the departure of G.G. Robinson. He only had 22 tackles as a junior last season, but will have a larger role in 2020 and as Jacob Lane wrote, his production should take a major upswing because of it.  Seeing this starting spot emerge with Robinson graduating was one of the biggest motivations for him this offseason and it’s clear he sees the potential to break through as a star in 2020. At 6’6, 280 pounds, Goldwire hopes to have several games like he did against NC State last season.

He will finally get a returning defensive coordinator, playing at Fort Scott Community College before enrolling at the University of Louisville in January of 2018. Louisville fans love having that defensive guy upfront that they repeatedly hear over the intercom. In 2020, Jared Goldwire hopes to be exactly that.
