Ahmari Huggins-Bruce – WR

I am by no means a recruiting expert, but if I had to guess who the next commitment might be for Louisville football my money would be on three-star receiver Ahmari Huggins-Bruce – who has recently been trending the Cards way.

The receiver position is by no means a major need and in fact, has become a bit of a luxury in the class of 2021 for the Louisville staff which should allow them to be hyper-focused on their top targets. They’ll welcome four new receivers to the roster in 2020 with Christian Fitzpatrick, Braden Smith, Jordan Watkins, and Nick Malito; three of whom will primarily play in the slot role – but adding another impact player will only add even more depth and talent for future seasons.

There are a few targets on the board at receiver for Louisville but none more important than the Dillon, SC product who has been at the top of the wish list for the coaching staff once they turned their attention to the 2021 recruiting class. It’s not hard to see why either. Huggins-Bruce is a dynamic playmaker who brings game-changing speed and versatility.

As Presley Meyer wrote in his piece examining what Huggins-Bruce would bring to Louisville, the expectation is that he’ll be a take as a slot receiver, but will be used in a variety of ways, much like we’ve seen with Tutu Atwell. Playing for his highschool in Dillon, SC, he lines up in the slot, out wide, and is involved in a lot of sweeps plays where he is dangerous as a player in motion, something we saw Atwell do last year on multiple occasions.

It looked like Huggins-Bruce would be a Virginia Tech Hokie early on, but as the staff has turned their attention elsewhere the Cards have capitalized. There have been multiple crystal ball projections for Louisville over the last few weeks and while there is no timetable for a commitment, I’d expect one sooner rather than later.
