2. Tennessee

From one 2020 Gator Bowl participant to the other, Louisville football could greatly benefit from a regional match-up against the Tennessee Volunteers.

Although we are two decades removed from the Volunteers’ 1998 national title, the program itself is still a historic SEC power that holds a lot of weight in the college football world. UT dominates the state in terms of attention paid to the program, and the Vols still have an insane following.

Tennessee still recruits top 20 classes year in and year out (3rd, 10th, 14th, 21st, 17th in the last 5 classes), and boasts one of the most talented rosters in the country.

Although the Vols have not had much recent success on the field, they continue to be a heavily discussed team every year on a national scale.

The two teams have no met in 25 years, and the programs are on completely different trajectories since that time.

It would be a sensible regional travel arrangement and a fantastic match-up that every Cards fan would love to see.
