Ladies and gentlemen, Louisville football is officially back.

Somehow, someway we’ve finally made it to the 2020 Louisville football season.

It’s been a long offseason with more time to analyze, praise, scrutinize, and project what the Cardinals may look like than any I’ve covered, and because of that, I can’t wait to see players put on pads and play football that counts.

On Saturday, Louisville football will go head-to-head with in-state foe Western Kentucky, attempting to sweep the series that started back in 2018 while winning their lone non-conference matchup of the season.

It’s obviously been the weirdest offseason and preseason of my lifetime, and probably of any year prior, but due to the hard work by the respective staffs, conferences, and universities, we are set to play football – something we didn’t even know for sure would happen in 2020.

Expectations are sky high for Louisville following their surprising 8-5 finish in 2019, and many believe that the Cards could compete for a spot in the ACC Championship game.

Though they won’t start the season ranked or even in the top three of our ACC power rankings, Louisville is set to kick off what could be a special season on Saturday at Cardinal Stadium against a very talented and experienced Western Kentucky program.

WKU head coach Tyson Helton also is entering his second season as head coach and with a ton of experience back on both offense and defense, this is a game the Tops believe they can win.

It’s going to be a tough test for Louisville and these are three things I’ll be watching the closest.
