Lamar Jackson rushes for 150 yards in dazzling week one performance

The Cleveland Browns linebackers are suspect at best going into week one of the NFL season this weekend. Despite good news on a severe hyper extended knee, second year linebacker Mack Wilson will be out for their week one game against Lamar and the Ravens. This leaves Jacob Phillips, B.J. Goodson, an Sione Takitaki as the projected starters at linebacker for the Browns.

In a run-heavy offense, the Ravens offense should be able to feast on the ground in read option, QB draw, and any other run-heavy sets they desire for with a weak Browns linebacker corps.

In 2019, Jackson rushed for 66 yards on nine carries and for 103 yards on 17 carries in his respective games against the divisional foe Browns. That is a 6.5 yards per carry average through both of those games combined.

A 100-yard rushing performance by Jackson may not be as bold of a prediction. However, a big performance on the ground of 150 yards and a formidable one in the pass game would vault him into a way too early MVP favorite for the 2020 NFL season.
