The offensive line retools themselves

One of the biggest storylines to monitor going into the 2020 season for the Cardinals was the changing of the guard at both offensive tackle positions. Mekhi Becton and Tyler Haycraft are off to the NFL with the New York Jets and New York Giants respectively. Their replacements? Junior left tackle Adonis Boone and redshirt freshman right tackle Renato Brown.

Both looked more than serviceable for the Cards, although I would argue Brown looked more comfortable at his position. At times, Boone looked a little stiff and his lateral movements just a tick slow.

In total the Cards only gave up one sack to a Western Kentucky team that had edge rushers DeAngelo Malone and Juwuan Jones that combined for 18.5 sacks in 2019 by themselves. Very impressive indeed for the new offensive line unit for Louisville.

The line will have their hands full once again in Week two against a very talented Miami front. These two new starters will be ones to monitor in next week’s matchup and over the course of the entire season.
