Louisville basketball: Most important players for the 2020-21 season
By Alan Thomas
Mack and his staff certainly delivered by getting Carlik Jones to commit. Jones was the no. 1 available graduate transfer at the time.
Last season at Radford, he averaged 20 ppg, 5 rebs and 5 assists on his way to being named Big South Player of the Year. Aside from his eye-popping stats and accolades, he is well-known for his vocal leadership. Jones will be THE component Mack leans on to recharge and re-energize the team when it needs a voice to corral them.
He can shoot. He can get to the rack. He can create. He shares the ball very well. He’s aggressive. Oh, and he’s attacking the glass with ease at a mere 6’1”.
I’m incredibly excited about Jones’s this season, as I think he could explode onto the scene and really provide the immediate impact that Mack was looking for when they sought after him. Here’s another guy that can straight up go get you a bucket when you need one. Louisville won’t even catch a sniff of ACC contention without Jones having a good year.
