Louisville Football: It’s Hurricane Bain Season
Inland Louisville, Kentucky is not a typical place for the sighting of a hurricane. However, a category four is coming in town this weekend. It’s Hurricane Bain season.
Four-star defensive edge Rueben Bain Jr. is set to visit Louisville this weekend. On Saturday, the Louisville Cardinals take on #10 Wake Forest in a crucial ACC matchup. Right now, Clemson sits atop the ACC Power Rankings with Wake Forest on their coattails. And Louisville has climbed their way out of the trenches into the #8 spot and looks to go on a three game win streak after a shaky first half of the season.
The Cardinals announced it is Black Out Weekend and the last time the Demon Deacons played in a black out game they lost to Clemson in a shootout on their home field. They also bareley squeezed out a victory over Liberty the week before on Homecoming weekend. So it seems that Wake has a hard time with special occasions.
This is great news for the Cardinals because they are looking to extend their win streak and Coach Satterfield looks to keep his name out of the hot seat. The Cardinal defense was all over the field last week against the reigning ACC Champion Pittsburgh Panthers, which ultimately led to linebacker Yasir Abdullah winning the ACC Linebacker of the Week award.
WIth Abdullah and Yaya Diaby being seniors, having Rueben Bain come in would be crucial for the Louisville defense. Not only could he follow in their footsteps, but also follow in the footsteps of another legendary Louisville defensive end, Elvis Dumervil.
It appears as if he is making himself at home in The Ville because this is not the first time, or even the second time that Bain has visited Cardinal Stadium. He was in town on April 16, 2022 as well as September 16, 2022 for their matchup against the Seminoles.
He will be in town cheering for the Cardinals after playing the Monsignor Pace Spartans who are currently sit at .500 with a 4-4 record. The Bain-led Rockets of Central High however are undefeated with an 8-0 record.
Hurricane season looks to continue in Miami on Friday night as he looks to continue his dominance from last week against the Columbus Explorers. Bain finished the game with 4 sacks and 6 total tackles. Fellow teammate and Louisville commit Stanquan Clark finished the game with 10 total tackles. What a force to be reckoned with if Bain decides to join Clark next season in Flyville.
