The victory celebration continues for the Cardinals as the Louisville football team hauls in three awards for incredible performances. The icing on the cake was sending Wake Forest down ten spots in the AP Top 25 Poll. With the win over the Demon Deacons, the Cardinals move to 2-1 against AP Top 25 teams this season with the only loss coming to Syracuse.

The season was looking bleak with the defense in question. But now the defense is one of the most dominant in the nation.

Making a defensive statement for the Cardinals was cornerback Quincy Riley with two interceptions and a touchdown earning him the honor of ACC Defensive Back of the Week. This comes on the heels of Yasir Abdullah winning ACC Linebacker of the Week after his dominant performance against Pittsburgh.

This Louisville defense has been nothing more than spectacular these last three weeks and it all starts with the coaching staff. At the helm for the Cardinals is Head Coach Scott Satterfield who foreshadowed the defensive gauntlet in the historic third quarter against the Demon Deacons and ultimately earned The Dodd Trophy’s Coach of the Week.

Not only did Coach Satterfield get the recognition for this game, the entire team did as the Louisville Cardinals were voted as the Cheez-It Bowl National Team of the Week, which is an incredible accomplishment considering how many teams are in college football. But if the average person watched the highlights of the third quarter alone, then they would realize that the results of that quarter were otherworldly.

The man behind the defense, Defensive Coordinator Bryan Brown, receives Honorable Mention this week as he was at the top of the list for On3’s Coordinators of the Week.
