Louisville’s Claire Chaussee Named ACC Player of the Year

In her fifth season with the Cardinals, Claire Chaussee has earned the honors of being named the ACC Player of the Year.

A Sun Prairie, Wisconsin native made her second home in Louisville, Kentucky for five years and posted astounding numbers throughout her career as a Cardinal. This season she achieved career highs in kills, kills per set, service aces, digs, digs per set, block assists, triple blocks, total points, and points per set.

Chaussee’s outstanding performances this year helped lead Louisville to a 26-2 record with a 17-1 in-conference record, which comes only second to the 2021 season (32-1) in team wins during Chaussee’s tenure.

Her achievements have put Louisville in a position to garner one of the top four Number One seeds in the 2022 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament. Hoping to follw up last year’s historic run to the Final Four, Chaussee and company look to take on Samford at 7 PM EST on December 2, 2022 in the first round of the tournament.

Upon receiving the award, the fifth year outside hitter was quick to give her flowers to her fellow teammates and coaching staff. Led by Head Coach Dani Busboom Kelly, Kelly was recently named the ACC Coach of the Year for the third straight season. Formerly an assistant at Nebraska, Kelly has propeled the Louisville program for sustained dominance under her leadership and the production on the court this year began with Claire Chaussee.
