Whether Louisville will land UMass transfer RJ Luis remains a mystery but in the meantime, Kenny Payne and his staff have reached out to Tre White, a small forward transfer from USC. Coming out of high school, Tre White was a consensus four-star prospect and the No. 7 overall player in the state of California for the Class of 2022.

He also cracked the Top 50 best players for the Class of 2022 and was pursued by several Division I programs, including Texas Tech, LSU, Kansas, Illinois, and Arizona, among others. But, the 6-foot-6, 190-pound wing decided to commit to the University of Southern California, which was roughly a seven-hour drive from Napa, California.

Tre White played basketball at Prolific Prep, one of the top high school programs in the nation, prior to joining the Trojans. Now, he is one year removed from his time in high school and he is ready to move on to another school. In his lone season at USC, White averaged 9.0 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, and 1.0 assist per game as a true freshman.

The versatile winger can also play the guard position, and with his impressive height, it’s no secret why Kenny Payne has reached out to him. The confirmation of the two sides making contact was reported by CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Tre White joins a list of a few uncommitted players that have been contacted by Louisville Head Coach Kenny Payne. That list also includes RJ Luis, RaeQuan Battle, Cam Hayes, and Hunter Sallis. There are also still a lot of eyes on what five-star recruit Mackenzie Mgbako will do after requesting a NLI release from Duke.

Louisville currently has three open scholarships remaining and it is anticipated that Kenny Payne will fill those spots with two guards and one forward. But, we will continue to wait and see what happens.
