Louisville basketball: Transfer portal update. Who’s trending to the Cardinals? Vol. 6

Silas Demary Jr. – Combo Guard – 6’4 – Class of 2023
I questioned whether I should even include Silas Demary Jr. in this piece, as there has been no information pointing to the staff ever reaching out to him, but I included him in last week’s article, so I figured I’d provide a follow-up.
Demary Jr. is a four-star combo guard in the class of 2023, who had been previously committed to play at USC. But two weeks ago Demary Jr. announced his request to be released from his NLI and re-open his commitment.
I wouldn’t, nor have I, usually add random players with no concrete evidence of a connection to Louisville to this thread, but many on Twitter wondered if the staff would reach out to Demary Jr. since he was teammates with Louisville’s most recent signee, Trentyn Flowers.
But alas, it was just a dream for Louisville fans.
I said this last week, and I’ll repeat it again. Silas Demary Jr. is a talented young combo guard, who excels at getting to the basket. But, when I watched his full games, I was left mainly noticing his selfishness.
I think he could end up being a great player for the Bulldogs, but I don’t think he is what this team needs. This team is already going to be young and inexperienced. The staff didn’t need to add a young guard with sharing issues to the squad.
This week’s update is certainly the most interesting, so far. We had our first commitment in weeks, and we have two visits scheduled, so things look to be heating up for the Cardinals.
I’m not a huge fan of using one of our three remaining scholarships on a redshirt freshman power forward that played two minutes last year, but the staff still has two chances to finish out this roster nicely. Landing RJ Luis and/or Mackenzie Mgbako would be great for next year’s team. Though we’d still be missing another ball-handler. Hopefully, we have another commitment to include next week.
