Tre White – Forward- 6’7″ – University of Southern California

The Cards officially have TWO players scheduled for visits, and this time it’s the stud freshman from the golden coast.

When a skyscraping wing player hits the portal, you know Kenny Payne can’t help but reach out, and this time Kenny Payne got him on campus quickly.

Tre White was a consensus top-50 recruit coming out of high school, and after an impactful year one at USC he has hit the transfer portal. After stepping foot on campus, White almost immediately became the starting 2/3 for the Trojans this year, and he made an instant impact this year.

White averaged 9.0 PPG, 5.1 RPG, and he shot better than 47% from the field in a little less than 30 minutes a night. And as you can see from his high school highlights, he’s much more of the high flyer/slasher, than he is a shooter.

White shot just under 26% from behind the three-point line (on just 1.5 3PA per night). But despite those deficiencies, he still made an impact night after night attacking the rim and boards.

White hit the portal on April 19, and just a few days later nearly every power five program reached out. I think kids just include Arkansas on their list no matter what? I mean, Eric Musselman has landed four transfer guards from the portal already, and here he is offering another. Some men are just never happy.

But in all seriousness, the laundry list of schools is daunting, so it’s impressive to see Louisville get his first visit. White is ranked 27th on On3’s transfer portal player rankings, so it’s no surprise to see him garnering so much interest.

White would be another great piece to add to the team. I’d consider him a wing and less of a ball handler, but he’s certainly another player we could use next year. He can get his own shot and attack the defense, and that’s something most Louisville players, outside of El Ellis, really struggled with last season.

The only concern I have with adding him is that he isn’t a ball-handler. He’s a wing that will play the 2 some, but most likely the 3. He’s very talented, but, with just two scholarships remaining, the staff doesn’t have many more spots left to add a second ball handler to this team.
