3. Sloppy turnovers

There will be teams Louisville faces that will just be better on certain nights as the season progresses; that is a given. However, Louisville can’t help these opponents and ends up hurting itself with a plethora of turnovers. Louisville struggled with this statistic all night, turning the ball over 20 times against the Jayhawks. The number of turnovers is bound to affect the offensive performance, no matter who the opponent is during the season.

Whenever the offense got into a rhythm, a timely turnover would stall that momentum and hand the ball right back to Kansas without a chance to score. Senior returner Aly Khalifa, in particular, led the way on the team with five unfortunate turnovers at the center position, at times forcing passing into windows tightly guarded by the Jayhawk defenders. These opportunities were ultimately practiced during the scrimmage, but the decision-making will need to improve once the games start to count towards the Cardinals' record.

Louisville has an incredibly challenging non-conference schedule to start the season. The Cardinals need to help themselves out and play as clean basketball as they can to put themselves in a good spot to get some early wins.
