Louisville football welcomes fans back to L&N Stadium this Friday for their annual spring game. To improve the fan experience, the start time has been moved back an hour to 6 p.m. This game will kick off Jeff Brohm's third year as the head coach at his alma mater. Louisville football is coming into this season with high expectations. The Cardinals have won a total of 19 games in the past two seasons, and coach Brohm is not looking to slow down any time soon. Louisville football is coming in with the third-best odds to win the ACC at +475 according to ESPN.
There has been some roster change at the skill positions for the Cardinals this off-season. They lost leading receiver Ja'Corey Brooks, star quarterback Tyler Shough, and practically the entire cornerback room. Louisville looked into the transfer portal like any college team would do nowadays and filled those gaps. The question that arises is whether those gaps will be filled with players who can contribute to winning games. This is why those key skill positions will be the primary focus in the upcoming spring game.
3 Biggest Question Marks for Louisville Football Heading into the Spring Game
Miller Moss - QB
In the 2024 season, starting quarterback Tyler Shough won the Cardinal fanbase over with his exceptional play at QB. He transferred to Louisville in his final year of college football. Shough is currently one of the fastest-rising prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft and is projected to be a round 2-3 pick. You could tell Shough had the talent, but he was either always injured or in an unfortunate situation. Louisville football saw that talent and took a chance on him and he repaid them for that, leading the Cardinals to a nine-win season.
Louisville football is hoping senior transfer quarterback Miller Moss, has a Tyler Shough-like resurrection. After Moss led USC to a bowl victory against Louisville in 2023 and a 2-0 start last season, draft mocks had him going third overall in the entire draft. Moss eventually got benched late last season after USC went 1-4 in his last five starts. In those losses, Moss still put up solid numbers apart from one game where he threw for three interceptions. As a result, Moss' draft stock tanked to a third-fourth-round pick.
Miller Moss has the talent to be an NFL quarterback and has shown it in the past. Louisville football is looking to bring out the best in Moss and give him a similar path to Shough. Moss is known for his arm strength and talent. He will need to limit his turnovers and recognize coverages post-snap. The experience of Moss is also a question mark. He has never started a full season. His only season with more than four games played was last season, which, even then, he got benched and didn't complete the season as the starter. Moss will start his senior campaign this Friday at L&N Stadium.
