Caullin Lacy - WR
Some Cardinal fans may not be familiar with wide receiver, Caullin Lacy. Lacy transferred to Louisville from South Alabama after the 2023 season. Lacy suffered a broken collarbone on the final day of fall camp last season. He missed the first three games of the season. Lacy did come back and appeared in five games before announcing he was going to preserve his redshirt and sit out the rest of the season. This will be a receiver that has spent a full year in the program and has had time to adjust.
Lacy will look to have a massive year as the potential Miller Moss No. 1 target. In his 2023 season with South Alabama, he was top 10 in catches with 91 receptions, and secured 1,316 receiving yards, which was seventh in the nation. This elite wide receiver has the skills for a breakout season, but the Spring Game will be a great first-look to see how Lacy has recovered from his injury and who will be Moss's No. 1 target as of April 11.
After losing leading receiver Ja'Corey Brooks to the NFL Draft, Lacy is expected to step up and have a big season. He has had experience out wide but is mainly a slot receiver. His strengths are short-yardage catches, yards after catch, and he can also be used in the jet sweep run game. His size will always be a talking point since he is listed at 5-foot-8, and his release off the line will be examined. Look out for how Lacy is exactly involved and see how he has adjusted in the offense. Going into last season, he was projected as a day-three pick.
