Louisville basketball is hosting 4-star transfer Karter Knox on campus Tuesday for an official visit. The Cardinals have lost four forwards already to the portal in Sananda Fru, Vangelis Zougris, Mouhamed Camara, and Khani Rooths, and lost J’Vonne Hadley due to eligibility.

So, with Louisville in dire need of a small forward, today’s visit is a crucial one as Knox is a former 5-star recruit and a McDonald’s All-American. He initially committed to Kentucky out of high school, but when Coach Calipari went to Arkansas, Knox decided to follow him to the Razorbacks. Louisville was a finalist for his recruiting process, and now it appears the Cards are towards the top of his list once again.

Knox ranks as a consensus 4-star transfer, No. 54 overall, and No. 6 among small forwards in the Transfer Portal. The Cards are making a strong push for the former 5-star once again, and with Louisville hoping to earn his commitment before he leaves campus, we wanted to list the three other teams recruiting Knox. So, here are the Cardinals' three biggest threats for Louisville basketball to land former 5-star Karter Knox.

South Carolina

South Carolina is a team reported to have reached out to Knox and is in the mix to land a visit if he doesn’t commit to Louisville today. His younger brother Kobe played for the Gamecocks this past season, averaging 30 minutes, 10.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game.

South Carolina is coming off a 13-19 season and is also rebuilding, with seven players already entering the transfer portal. Louisville hosting the first visit is crucial for the Cardinals to earn his commitment before he can even visit another campus, like South Carolina.

Missouri

The other program that has reached out to and is making a push for Knox is another SEC program, the Missouri Tigers. Missouri is coming off a 20-13 season after reaching the NCAA Tournament but losing in the first round to Miami.

The Tigers have already seen four players enter the portal and have landed power forward Jaylen Carey. It certainly feels like Knox wants to compete for a National Title, the Cardinals are the better option, depending on NIL price, and if he wants to be the main guy, that could both factor into the decision.

Kentucky

Last, a team we are going to throw on the list is the Kentucky Wildcats. It hasn’t been reported that Kentucky is a team to be on the lookout for, but with the Wildcats landing their initial commitment and rebuilding, it feels like one that could enter the mix. Coming out of high school, Knox was a 5-star recruit and ranked as high as No. 22 in the 2024 recruiting class and No. 8 among small forwards.

Now, as Mark Pope and Kentucky have lost seven players to the Transfer Portal, Knox could be a transfer the Wildcats might want to recruit again. Louisville has the clear edge on all three teams, with Kelsey earning the first visit, and now, as each hour passes, it will be crucial for Louisville to earn the 4-star transfer's commitment before he leaves campus and even considers visiting another program.
