Louisville basketball fans recently learned that they made 5-star point guard and Kentucky native Taylen Kinney updated his recruiting list after he cut his list down to six schools. The Cardinals also learned that the heavily recruited 5-star will announce his commitment on September 28.
Louisville has been all-in for Kinney for quite some time now, and it has been known that he and Tyran Stokes are at the top of Pat Kelsey's drawing board for the 2026 cycle. So, now that the list is down to six schools, and Louisville is in a heavy recruiting battle with five other programs, here are the three biggest threats for Louisville to land the commitment from the elite 5-star point guard.
3 Biggest threats to Louisville landing in-state 5-star recruit Taylen Kinney
3. Arkansas
Arkansas is emerging as one of the top spots for elite 5-star prospects as John Calipari flipped that program quickly into one of the top landing spots. The Razorbacks are expected to earn an official visit just days before Kinney makes his decision, which scares Louisville fans a little bit, as Calipari will have the last say on the 5-star recruit before he makes his decision.
Louisville and Arkansas have battled it out for multiple recruits over the last couple of years, but Kinney might be the biggest one of them all. The Razorbacks have some ground to gain as they are quite far behind in the recruiting race at this point, but nothing is impossible for coach Cal, and so Louisville fans have to keep a close eye on the former Kentucky head coach.
